TEST WORK
Using a broken projector and repurposed wood made into a screen, Ashlee explores the decay of functional objects and how that alters their perceived societal value over time. The default blue projected light is littered with dead white pixels that are multiplying due to the continual deterioration of the projector’s motherboard. Projected onto the ply, the grain of the surface is visible making the materiality of the two mediums apparent. The repurposed materials are given new life through this project. By exploring the actuality of old objects Ashlee is looking to challenge the championing of new technology (objects) over old through experimenting with new ideas and reinventing mediums as vessels of change.
