Untitled Series (2013-14)
Plaster, beads, clay, paint and paper
My work is about being informed by the sensibilities I employ to make art, reconceptualising materials into objects to have another unspecific purpose. My work wrestles between the methodical and an intuitive way of making. I become interested in following certain rules and acknowledging repetitive ideas for a decisive manner of making. Crafting found objects I have a fondness for allows the work to have an autonomous nature; the works become reflections of the self and are insights into my ideas. Quietly playing with the boundaries of dynamic play and expectation means conversations occur between familiarities, shape and texture and echo a previous state of the material.
